NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! “CBS Mornings” co-host Gayle King was stunned to learn that the lone dissenting juror in Lindsay Clancy’s trial was reportedly a black man during an interview Friday. Paula Devlin, one of the jurors who was part of the 11-person majority in favor of finding Clancy not criminally responsible for strangling his three young children, explained that the only holdout was a black man and the only person of color on the jury in an interview with King on “Wow. I have to sit with that for just a second,” said King, who seemed visibly nervous about the revelation. (Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images) Devlin also said the ages of the jurors ranged from 22 to “70 years old.” Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial last week after jurors could not agree on a verdict. They told the court they were divided 11-1, with the lone male holdout being the only one who voted to convict Clancy of first-degree murder for the deaths of their three children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan. A fellow juror, Nick Dargie, 25, told ABC News that the lone juror who resisted at one point tried to imitate the way Clancy killed his three children with an exercise band. and a bottle of water. “He took the exercise band out of the bag, grabbed an empty water bottle, tied the band around the water bottle and took it out,” Dargie said. “I was very surprised that he did that.” “I was very surprised, it didn’t make any sense to me. We’re not here to play detective or it’s not a game of Clue. This is serious. I asked him why,” he added. (Greg Derr/Pool/The Patriot Ledger) Dargie said the reluctant juror refused to explain how a witness’s testimony helped prove his position. “There were several times I asked him to show us evidence or, you know, describe the testimony of a witness that helped prove what he was saying, and… he couldn’t,” Dargie said. “There wasn’t a single piece of evidence or witness testimony that he used to show why he thought that way, which is why we ultimately sent that memo.” Dargie was referring to the note sent by the jury foreman, who reported that a juror was refusing to follow the court’s instructions in the face of reasonable doubt. Curtis Houck, editor in chief of the NewsBusters division of the Media Research Center, a media watchdog group, helped the clip go viral by sharing it in a social media post.
