Final Fantasy Resonance modders have already reinstated the original mobile game’s biggest icon, Ariana Grande

Final Fantasy Resonance won’t be fully released until next month, but modders are already using its new demo to reinstate the series’ most iconic diva. I’m talking about Ariana Grande, of course. For those who don’t know, Final Fantasy Resonance is a nearly unrecognizable reconstruction of the now closed Final Fantasy Brave Exvius mobile game. It’s not exactly a port or a remake, but it uses the story of the original game as a starting point. And one of the most unique ideas in Final Fantasy Resonance comes from Visions, characters from throughout the series’ history that you can summon in battle. Cloud, Lightning, and Cecil can help you in combat, but modders have now gone a step further by adding all the Brave Exvius fighters who didn’t make it to the Resonance roster. Manage cookie settings The FFR Vision Studio mod brings nearly 1,300 Brave Exvius units to the upcoming game demo as Visions. That means, in theory, all of the guest characters from the defunct mobile game can appear, including Sora from Kingdom Hearts and 2B from Nier Automata. Brave Exvius received a lot of criticism many years ago because, well, the game wasn’t exactly good. Seemingly pointless guest characters like Ariana Grande and Katy Perry also irked fans, although the more gay and chronically online members of the fanbase (me) have since grown accustomed to how silly and sometimes camp those crossovers were. Speaking to Kotaku, producer Keisuke Nakashima explained that “Ariana Grande’s character wouldn’t fit the vibe we’ve created for Final Fantasy Resonance.” It all depends on your perspective, Nakashima. A recent blog post and accompanying roadmap show that there is still work to be done on the mod. The modder in charge said that they are working on improving the animations and adding a skill dictionary for Brave Exvius’ abilities, and they could even develop side quests to hand out certain Visions.
