When iOS 27 arrives later this month, it will have a feature called iPhone Handoff that will allow you to switch between two phones using the same number. It was briefly mentioned during the WWDC keynote in June, but there were no details at the time. There is now a demo clip showing how to set up the feature running in Xcode 27’s Device Hub. It allows you to pair two iPhones, using one as the primary device and the other as a “companion.” Releasing the feature now makes sense with the long-awaited launch of the foldable iPhone Ultra just around the corner. People may not always want to take a bulky and extremely expensive device with them. Handoff would therefore allow users to temporarily switch to a cheaper, smaller device, like that cracked iPhone 13 you’ve stubbornly refused to upgrade. However, the feature will require carrier support. References to T-Mobile US and Telekom.de were found in the code, but support beyond that is unknown.
