3 killed, 1 wounded in Caswell County family shooting; suspect dead :: WRAL.com

Three people were killed and one person would wounded in a shooting at a Caswell County home on Wednesday.

The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting occurred before 8 a.m. on Brooks Road in the Prospect Hill area.

Three people died while one person was taken to Duke University Hospital with a gunshot wound. That person’s condition is unknown.

When asked about the relationship between the suspect and victims, Caswell County Sheriff Tony Durden said: “All members were in the same family.”

During a media briefing Wednesday afternoon, Sheriff Durden said the Sheriff’s Office had no evidence the family contacted authorities over domestic issues.

Durden said the suspect is dead. The names of those involved have not been released.

There is no threat to the public.

The circumstances around the shooting are not known.

Investigators with the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina State Highway Patrol and State Bureau of Investigation were seen gathered in front of the home around 1 p.m.

Caswell County Sheriff’s Office is expected to release more information on Thursday.
