SEATTLE — Three people are in custody after shots were fired at Seattle police officers during an undercover investigation Wednesday night, according to the Seattle Police Department. Shortly before 6 p.m., officers were conducting an undercover investigation near Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Cloverdale Street when police said someone in a dark-colored vehicle fired shots at officers. No officers were hit by gunfire, according to SPD. Police pursued the vehicle until it crashed into another vehicle. He fled on foot and attempted to steal another vehicle. An officer intervened and stopped the attempted carjacking, according to SPD. The three suspects were arrested. Four people were hospitalized after the incident, including two suspects who had been in the pursued vehicle, the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash and a Seattle police officer. Police did not immediately provide information about the extent of his injuries. Investigators recovered two firearms. The Seattle Department of Transportation reported that police activity on Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Ryan Way was blocking everything eastbound. lanes. Drivers were advised to use alternative routes. Police activity is also disrupting Sound Transit Link light rail service in the area. Sound Transit said Line 1 service is suspended between the Othello and Rainier Beach stations until further notice due to police activity.
