**Market Decline**
August has started poorly for the markets. Over the past three days, the Russell 2000 has dropped 9.5%, with each day seeing a decline of over 3%. The Nasdaq Composite has fallen nearly 8%, the S&P 500 has decreased by 6%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average has lost 5.24%.
**Cryptocurrency**
Bitcoin has plummeted 16.6% in three days, now hovering around $54,000. Ether has seen a sharper decline of 25% over the same period. Michael Saylor, co-founder of MicroStrategy, will appear on “Squawk on the Street” at 10 a.m. ET on Tuesday. MicroStrategy’s stock has dropped 19% in three days. Other notable declines include Galaxy Digital (down 30%), Cleanspark (down 24%), Riot Platforms (down 18.5%), and Marathon Digital (down 14%).
**CSX**
CSX CEO Joe Hinrichs will also be on “Squawk on the Street” at 10 a.m. ET on Tuesday. CSX’s stock has fallen 6% in three days and is now 18% below its 52-week high from February. The company’s recent earnings report showed a slight decrease compared to the same quarter last year, with flat revenue.
**Caterpillar**
Caterpillar will report earnings before the market opens on Tuesday. The stock has dropped 8% over the past week and about 6% in the last three months, currently sitting 17% below its 52-week high from April.
**Amgen**
Amgen will release its earnings report after the market closes on Tuesday. The stock has risen 4.5% over the past three months but has dipped 2.2% in the last three days.
**Dow Winners**
Only four Dow stocks have seen gains over the past three days. Procter & Gamble is up 4.5% and is 1.7% below its 52-week high from July 24. Johnson & Johnson has increased by 2.15% and is 8% below its August 2023 high. Coca-Cola is up 2%, and McDonald’s has risen 1%, currently 11% below its 52-week high from January.
